Wanna One Scores With "Energetic"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2017, August Week 4
Impressive rookie group Wanna One scored their first chart topping song with their debut hit “Energetic,” moving up eight spots to take over as our new No. 1 this week. This song swept all the music show wins last week and also achieved high scores in all chart sources. Congratulations to Wanna One!
Last week’s champion GFRIEND’s “LOVE WHISPER” went down one spot to No. 2. Moving up five spots to No. 3 is Girls’ Generation’s “Holiday.” This song is still going up despite Girl’s Generation having already wrapped up their album promotions.
There is only one new song in the top 10 this week. Moving up seven spots to No. 10 is veteran musician Yoon Jong Shin’s “Like It.” This song may be the most surprised hit song in Korea this year. It was released back on June 22. Despite no promotions, “Like It” kept gaining recognition each week. Finally it achieved an “all kill” last week on all the major internet charts. After two months since its release, “Like It” has made it to our top 10. This is impressive considering that this ballad was released in the summer when a lot of top K-pop artists made comebacks. “Like It” has a rich string melody and is filled with the deep sensitivity and appeal of Yoon Jong Shin. Many people have said that this song that brings them sympathy and comfort.
