Lee Yeon Hee Confirms Casting As Official Member Of Travel Variety Show
Lee Yeon Hee will be joining the travel variety show “Island Trio 2!”
On May 3, a source from the actress’s agency, SM Entertainment, told HeraldPOP, “Lee Yeon Hee’s appearance in ‘Island Trio’ has been confirmed. She has been cast as an official cast member but has not yet started filming.”
This is Lee Yeon Hee’s first time acting as an official cast member of a variety show. The first season of “Island Trio,” which was broadcast last year, gained a lot of love due to the cast of Kang Ho Dong, Kim Hee Sun, and CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa.
Lee Yeon Hee will be taking Kim Hee Sun’s place in the new season, while another cast member is expected to be announced to take the place of Jung Yong Hwa, who is currently completing his mandatory military service.
When asked why he cast the actress, producing director (PD) Park Sang Hyuk said, “Her appeal is that she seems like someone whose image doesn’t fit with a remote island. It’s the same reason we cast Park Hee Sun. We wanted to cast people who the viewers would look at and think, ‘They don’t belong in a place like that.’ We wanted people to see unfamiliar sides of Lee Yeon Hee, like doing manual labor. Also, she said she likes to drink [laughs].”
He added, “We have to spend 4-5 days in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people. There are also a lot of elderly people on the show. We wanted to cast someone with a respectful and kind personality.”
“Island Trio” is broadcast on the channel Olive and shows the cast traveling to various islands and learning to live with the native inhabitants there. The second season will air sometime later this year.
