GFRIEND Succeeds With "Time For The Moon Night"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2018, May Week 3
GFRIEND’s “Time for the Moon Night” moves up 11 spots to become our new No. 1 song this week! Fresh off winning the Best Female Group award at the 13th Annual Soompi Awards, GFRIEND continues to receive lots of love from our fans all over the world. “Time for the Moon Night” swept all the music show wins last week, and was also strong in all other chart categories. Therefore it easily wins the top spot this week. Congratulations to GFRIEND!
“Time for the Moon Night” is the title track from GFRIEND’s sixth mini-album, and is a medium tempo dance song that expresses a sense of sadness from a one-sided love. The lyrics describe how people feel emotional at night thinking about their love.
Still staying at the second spot is WINNER’s “EVERYDAY.” This song has been at No. 2 for the last three weeks. Moving up seven spots to No. 3 is Yong Junhyung’s “Sudden Shower.” This song had been in the top 10 for the past seven weeks, but it had previously only reached No. 6 until this week, when it has a big bounce back.
There are three other new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up 18 spots to No. 5 is Crush’s “Bittersweet.” Crush took part in writing and penning this R&B song about the bittersweet feeling of a man who is struggling to move past a relationship.
Moving up 13 spots to score their first top 10 hit is PENTAGON’s “Shine.” It is the title song of PENTAGON’s sixth mini-album “Positive.” Members Hui and E’Dawn took part in writing this song, with lyrics that describe a man who does not have the courage to confess his one-sided love. “Shine” was released back in April 2 and it did not gain any momentum on the chart until the last three weeks, when PENTAGON’s hammer dance choreography had gone viral with many idol artists liking it.
Up 11 spots to No. 10 is Park Hyo Shin’s latest hit “The Other Day.” This ballad has a calm melody that enables Park Hyo Shin’s trademark husky voice to display throughout the song. The lyrics convey a message of hope, and the emotions of this song will heal your heart.
