BTS Achieves Perfect Score With "Fake Love"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2018, June Week 1
BTS has achieved perfection this week with their new song “FAKE LOVE,” moving up 10 spots to take over as our new No. 1 song! This song won on “”Inkigayo,” “Music Bank,” and “Music Core” last week, and also topped all other chart sources. “FAKE LOVE” becomes the first song in 2018 to achieve a perfect 1000 score, which is a big achievement and rarely happens on our chart. The last song to do so was Girls’ Generations; “Lion Heart” back in 2015. Congratulations to BTS!
BTS was a big winner during our 13th Annual Soompi Awards. “FAKE LOVE” is the title song of BTS’s third studio album “Love Yourself: Tear,” and is a hip hop song with a rock guitar sound and groove trap beat. It clearly shows the theme of the album as the song talks about realizing that the love that was once thought to be fate is found to be a lie.
Despite facing competition from internationally reckoned K-pop artists, rookie girl group (G)I-DLE held their own and moved up one spot with their debut song “LATATA.” This song won on “M! Countdown” to prevent a sweep from BTS. What an impressive accomplishment from a rookie artist!
Last two week’s champion, GFRIEND’s “Time for the Moon Night,” is down two spots to No. 3 this week.
