BLACKPINK Ascends With "DDU-DU DDU-DU"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2018, June Week 5
BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” moves up 10 spots to become our new No. 1 song! This song won on “Inkigayo” and “Music Core” last week. But it made even more headlines internationally. On the latest Billboard Hot 100, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” debuted at No. 55, becoming the highest charting hit by a female K-pop artist. Meanwhile, the MV of “DDU-DU DDU-DU” already hit 100 million views in less than 10 days, which is also a record. Congratulations to BLACKPINK!
“DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the title song from BLACKPINK’s first mini-album “SQUARE UP.” It is a hip hop style dance track with an oriental percussion rhythm and a creative whistle lead sound on a powerful trap beat that accentuates the unique color of BLACKPINK.
Last week’s No. 1 song, Wanna One’s “Light,” dropped one spot to No. 2. “Light” picked up another win on “Music Bank.” Holding steady at No. 3 is BTS’s former chart-topping hit, “FAKE LOVE.”
There is one other new song in the top 10 this week. Debuting at No. 7 is SHINee’s “I Want You,” which is the title track from the second part of SHINee’s sixth album “The Story of Light EP. 2.” It is an addictive dance song with a tropical house beat about a man who wants to travel through time to get to the woman he loves. “I Want You” won on “M!Countdown” last week.
Stay tuned for the 2018 half-year top 10 results on our chart, which will be revealed soon!
