iKON Rises With "Killing Me"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2018, August Week 3
In another week of wide open competition for the top spot, iKON’s “KILLING ME” moves up 15 spots to take over as our new No. 1 song! This song won on “M!Countdown” last week, and had strong showing on all chart sources. It was enough to beat TWICE’s “Dance The Night Away” for the top spot, making this iKON’s second No. 1 song on our chart this year. Congratulations to iKON!
“KILLING ME” is the title song of iKON’s mini-album “NEW KIDS: CONTINUE.” It is a trendy dance song with a synth sound created by a vintage piano tone throughout the song. iKON member B.I co-wrote this song and penned its lyrics, which are about a man who broke up with his girlfriend recently.
TWICE’s “Dance The Night Away” continues to hold the No. 2 spot for the third straight week. Last two week’s champion, MAMAMOO’s “Egotistic,” drops two spots to No. 3 this week.
We have one other new song in the top 10 this week. Moving up 14 spots to No. 5 is a much anticipated first collaboration between Zico and IU. Their hit “SoulMate” is a unique analog style R&B song with trumpet, saxophone, and trombone sounds. As the title implies, this song centers on the theme of soulmates.
