BTS Continues Reign With "IDOL"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2018, September Week 4
BTS’s “IDOL” holds as No. 1 for the third straight week! This song won the same three music shows as last week — “Inkigayo,” “Music Bank,” and “Show Champion” — and was able to hold off two new challengers eyeing the top spot. Congratulations again to BTS!
No. 2 and 3 are both new songs. Moving up nine spots to No. 2 is Sunmi’s latest hit “Siren.” Since going solo, Sunmi has hit the top three with all of her songs. “Siren,” which Sunmi co-composed and wrote the lyrics for herself, is the title song from her mini-album “WARNING.” The song is about the double meaning of “Siren.” Besides the familiar warning sound that we know, it also refers to the figures from Greek mythology that lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. “Siren” won on “M!Countdown” last week.
Girls’ Generation has formed a new five member sub-unit Oh!GG. Their first hit song “Lil’ Touch” moves up nine spots to No. 3 this week. This is a catchy dance song with an addictive melody.
There is one other new song in the top 10 this week. After spending 16 weeks outside the top 10, Ben finally has her first top 10 hit “Love, ing,” moving up five spots to No. 10 this week. Despite her tiny frame, Ben is known for her powerful and emotional vocals. “Love, ing” is the title song from her first studio album “RECIPE.” It was released on May 8 this year, but it is slowly gaining momentum and finally hit the top 10 this week. This is a sad ballad about a woman still in love with her boyfriend even though they have broken up.
