IU's "BBIBBI" Breaks Record For Most Unique Listeners In 1st 24 Hours On Melon
IU’s new song “BBIBBI” has made history on Melon!
On October 11, her agency Kakao M confirmed that “BBIBBI” surpassed 1 million unique listeners on Korea’s largest music site Melon only 16 hours after its release. They stated that by 23 hours in, it had already broken the 24-hour unique listener record.
Her new digital single “BBIBBI” was released on October 10 at 6 p.m. KST, and by 5 p.m. KST on October 11, it had surpassed 1.42 million, at that point breaking the record for most unique listeners in 24 hours. The previous record was 1.4 million unique listeners, which had been set by IU and Park Myung Soo’s duet “Leon” that they released as part of the “Infinite Challenge” music festival in 2015.
“BBIBBI” went on to record 1,462,625 unique listeners in total in the first 24 hours.
“BBIBBI” currently remains at the top of the daily and realtime charts of all six major music charts (Melon, Genie, Bugs, Mnet, Naver, and Soribada). As the song is also No. 1 on iChart’s realtime chart, it’s achieved what’s known as a “certified all-kill.” If “BBIBBI” takes No. 1 on iChart’s weekly chart as well, it will gain “perfect all-kill” status.
Congratulations to IU!
