BLACKPINK Becomes 1st K-Pop Girl Group To Enter Top 40 Of UK's Official Singles Chart For Collab With Dua Lipa
BLACKPINK has made their debut within the Top 40 of the United Kingdom’s Official Singles Chart as their collaboration with Dua Lipa enters at a historic high for the group!
Dua Lipa’s track “Kiss and Make Up” featuring BLACKPINK is part of the upcoming “Complete Edition” of her self-titled album, and includes lyrics in both English and Korean. The song has grabbed the No. 36 spot on the United Kingdom’s Official Singles Chart for the week ending in November 1!
Official Charts reported the exciting news on October 26 with the title “BLACKPINK are officially the first ever female K-pop group to enter the Official UK Top 40.” They previously became the first K-pop girl group to enter the chart earlier this year when “DDU-DU DDU-DU” grabbed the No. 78 spot.
The Official Singles Chart ranks the most popular songs in the United Kingdom, using official sales of downloads, CDs, vinyl, and audio streams to determine the ranking. Only two other Korean artists have entered the Official Singles Chart: PSY and BTS. PSY holds the record for the highest ranking on the chart by a Korean artist after “Gangnam Style” scored No. 1, and BTS has ranked on the chart four times, recently reaching No. 21 with their track “IDOL.”
Congratulations to BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa!
