Watch: (G)I-DLE's Jeon Soyeon And Miyeon Discuss Their League Of Legends Collab And Have Fun Filming MV
(G)I-DLE’s Jeon Soyeon and Miyeon recently sat down for an interview to talk about their collaboration with League of Legends!
It was previously announced in late October that the two girl group members would be joining the opening ceremony of the game’s 2018 World Championship Finals. On November 3, they captivated both the K-pop and gaming audience through their performance of “POP/STARS” as the fictional group K/DA with Madison Beer and Jaira Burns.
During the interview, Soyeon and Miyeon talked more in depth about how they felt performing with their K/DA counterparts and what it was like performing as the League of Legends characters Ahri and Akali.
Soyeon answered, “My character of Akali felt more ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ compared to the other characters, so I tried hard to portray that.” Miyeon added, “Ahri [represents] a nine-tailed fox, so I played as Ahri myself [in the game] to understand her better. I think she’s a very charming character.”
The members then revealed that they had flown out to the United States in order to do motion captures for the music video. Miyeon commented, “I tried to express Ahri in my gestures and facial expressions, which was fun.”
Soyeon later expressed her excitement at having performed with her character Akali during the opening ceremony. She enjoyed how it truly felt as if it were two artists exchanging cues and working together. Miyeon chose the “upper-cutting” portion of the choreography as her favorite part of the performance.
They then concluded the interview by thanking their new fans and asking them to love (G)I-DLE.
