The track “POP/STARS” for the game League of Legends has earned the virtual pop group K/DA and all its members their first No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart!
K/DA consists of (G)I-DLE (with members Jeon Soyeon and Miyeon taking part) and American singers Madison Beer and Jaira Burns. “POP/STARS” features lyrics in Korean and English and is credited to the group K/DA as well as the three acts involved. They performed the track together at the opening ceremony of League of Legends’ 2018 World Championship Finals.
Billboard reports that according to Nielsen Music, “POP/STARS” sold 9,000 copies in the week ending November 8. In addition to its No. 1 spot on the World Digital Song Sales chart, it also debuts at No. 10 on the Pop Digital Song Sales chart and No. 30 for Digital Song Sales.
This is the first time that all three artists have entered the Digital Song Sales chart, and their first time reaching No. 1 for World Digital Song Sales. (G)I-DLE is now the fourth K-pop girl group to reach No. 1 on the chart, and the overall fifth female K-pop act. Their song “Hann” previously took No. 2 on the chart this year.
