Taeyeon Rises To No. 1 With "Four Seasons"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2019, April Week 2
Taeyeon’s “Four Seasons” moves up 11 spots to become our new No. 1 song! Despite having no promotions, “Four Seasons” won on “Inkigayo” and “Music Core” last week. It also topped many internet charts in the last two weeks. Taeyeon has scored many chart-topping hits with Girls’ Generation, but “Four Seasons” is her second solo No. 1 song on our chart. Her last solo No. 1 song was back in 2015 with “I.” Congratulations to Taeyeon!
“Four Seasons” is the title song from Taeyeon’s new single album. It is an acoustic ballad about a couple who were once deeply in love but broke up because they have lost their feelings for each other over time. Taeyeon’s outstanding vocals are highlighted throughout the song.
To make way for Taeyeon’s rise to the top, last week’s top two songs both fell one spot this week. MAMAMOO’s “gogobebe” is at No. 2, and rounding out the all-female top three is Park Bom’s “Spring” at No. 3.
There are three more new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up seven spots to No. 4 is “Every Moment With You” from Busker Busker’s lead singer Jang Bum Joon. This is one of the two title songs from Jang Bum Joon’s third studio album and is a folk rock song about missing one’s family. The lyrics talk about how a person gains comfort and healing from the people they love.
The last two new songs are brand new debuts this week! Debuting at No. 9 is the first solo top-10 hit for EXO’s Chen. His song “Beautiful Goodbye” is the title track from his first mini-album “April, and a flower.” It is a piano-driven ballad with a beautiful melody and contains lyrics that describe how a man who is preparing for separation sees his love fade over time.
Likewise, at No. 10, we have another new debut. IZ*ONE enters the top 10 this week with their second hit song “Violeta,” which is the title song of IZ*ONE’s second mini-album “HEART*IZ.” It is a dance track with future bass, pop, and tropical house genre styles. This song was inspired by the fairy tale “Happy Prince.” “Violeta” is a person who cannot find charm and happiness, but IZ*ONE shows love and cheer to make up for it.
