BLACKPINK Takes No. 1 Spot With "Kill This Love"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2019, April Week 4
BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love” moves up three spots to take over as our new No. 1 song! This song won on “Inkigayo” last week and also ranked high on every chart source, enabling BLACKPINK to score their fifth No. 1 song on our chart. Congratulations to BLACKPINK!
Last week’s No. 1 song, IZ*ONE’s “Violeta,” dropped one spot to No. 2. Despite the drop, “Violeta” picked up another two music show wins on “M Countdown” and “Show Champion” last week.
There is only one new song in the top 10 this week. Moving up 10 spots to No. 3 is BTS’s new song, “Boy With Luv.” This is the title song from BTS’s mini-album “MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA” and is a funk-pop song with hip hop elements. The lyrics are about true love and the joy that is often found in the small things in life and how we should cherish them. Renowned U.S. artist Halsey is featured on this song. “Boy With Luv” was released two weeks ago on a Friday, which explains why some of the TV charts haven’t included this song yet. Still, it won on “Music Bank” and “Music Core” last week. Next week, when all charts are accounted for, this song not only has the potential to be No. 1 on our chart but it also has the chance to gain a perfect score.
