LM Entertainment has responded to the latest court decision to reject the agency’s appeal regarding its contract with Kang Daniel.
On May 10, the court sided with Kang Daniel to suspend his contract with LM Entertainment, and the agency immediately filed an appeal.
On July 11, the court rejected LM Entertainment’s appeal and upheld the original decision made on May 10 to suspend Kang Daniel’s exclusive contract. LM Entertainment released a statement in response and said it will continue its legal battle with Kang Daniel.
The full statement is below:
This is LM Entertainment’s law firm WE.
On July 11, 2019, the 51st Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Central District Court upheld the existing injunction regarding the suspension of the exclusive contract with Kang Daniel. An injunction has to be reviewed by the court that decided on the injunction, and so this would be like the first trial if it was to be compared to litigation.
LM Entertainment will appeal against the injunction and seek the judgment of a higher court. LM Entertainment’s law firm recently obtained new material that will shed light on the truth. This is material that is closely related to the current case and so it was not able to be submitted in the original trial. At the appeal, we will reveal that LM Entertainment did not violate its exclusive contract with Kang Daniel, and that this dispute did not arise due to LM Entertainment’s violation of the exclusive contract.
The current injunction proceedings are temporary and nothing but a formation of a temporary position, unlike the merits of the case. In the appeal hearing for the injunction, we will thoroughly explain that LM Entertainment did not violate the exclusive contract as claimed by Kang Daniel’s side.
LM Entertainment and its legal representative law firm WE are refraining from making official statements other than about the lawsuit in order to reduce unnecessary misunderstandings about Kang Daniel and his agency. Please keep this in mind when reporting.
