X1 Rises To No. 1 With "FLASH"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2019, September Week 2
The competition was tight for the top spot on our chart this week as only eight points separated the top four songs!
Rookie male group X1 scores their first No. 1 with their debut hit “FLASH,” moving up from No. 12 last week. The eleven-member group was produced from the survival show “Produce X 101.” There was much hype for the group prior to their official debut, and they did not disappoint as “FLASH” swept all the music shows the previous week. Congratulations to X1!
“FLASH” is an EDM genre dance track with house and future trap sounds. The lyrics signal X1’s beginning and express their dreams and aspirations coming to light.
Last week’s top song, Red Velvet’s “Umpah Umpah,” is down one spot to No. 2. The song was only one point behind “FLASH” this week.
Moving up eight spots to No. 3 is Sunmi’s latest hit “LALALAY.” This is a Latin-style dance hit that was inspired by Sunmi’s trip to Mexico for her tour. “LALALAY” is just three points off from No. 1 this week.
Two more tracks entered the top 10 for the first time this week.
Up 17 spots to No. 6 is Crush’s newest track “NAPPA,” which is an R&B song about feeling sorry for making promises that could not be kept.
Moving up six spots to No. 9 is the first top 10 hit for Park Hye Won, a former “Superstar K 2016” contestant who goes by the stage name HYNN. Her song “The Lonely Bloom Stands Alone” was released nearly half a year ago but only started gaining attention in the past couple of months, reaching the top 10 this week. This emotional ballad showcases HYNN’s powerful voice, and the lyrics describe the sadness of a couple that has reached the last moment of love.
