MAMAMOO Takes No. 1 With "HIP"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2019, November Week 5
MAMAMOO scores their second No. 1 song on our chart this year with “HIP,” moving up 13 spots to take over as our new No. 1 song this week! “HIP” won on “Inkigayo,” “Music Bank,” and “M Countdown” the previous week and also maintained high scores on all chart sources. Congratulations to MAMAMOO!
“HIP” is the title track from MAMAMOO’s second studio album “reality in BLACK” and has an addictive melody with rhythmic brass and string sounds. The lyrics express that loving and cherishing yourself for who you are is what is truly “HIP” rather than creating an image based on what others think.
Moving up two spots to No. 2 is Noel’s “Late Night.” Rounding out the top three and holding steady at No. 3 is AKMU’s “How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love.”
Two other songs newly entered the top 10 this week. Moving up 19 spots to No. 5 is Vibe’s “Call me back,” which is a sad ballad about a man waiting for his ex-girlfriend to call him back.
Debuting at No. 10 is IU’s “Blueming,” one of the two title songs from her fifth mini album “Love poem.” It is an electro pop rock track with a unique synth source and dynamic band sound.
