Kim Soo Hyun Confirmed To Return To Small Screen For 1st Drama In 5 Years
It’s official: Kim Soo Hyun is finally making his long-awaited return to the small screen!
On February 7, tvN confirmed that the actor would be starring in its upcoming drama “Psycho But It’s Okay” (working title). Although he has made brief cameo appearances in tvN’s “Hotel Del Luna” and “Crash Landing on You” since his military discharge last July, “Psycho But It’s Okay” will mark his first starring role in a drama since “Producer” in 2015.
Described as a “healing romance that resembles a storybook fantasy,” “Psycho But It’s Okay” will tell the story of a community health worker at a psychiatric ward who doesn’t have time for love and a storybook writer who has never known love due to a birth defect. After meeting one another, the two slowly begin to heal each other’s emotional wounds.
Kim Soo Hyun will star as community health worker Moon Kang Tae, who lost his parents as a child and had to become his family’s breadwinner at a young age. He has spent his entire life looking after his older brother, who is on the autism spectrum, and he is focused on making it through each month by earning enough money to put food on their table and a roof over their heads. Exhausted by the day-to-day stress of his circumstances, he doesn’t have any grand dreams or much hope that his life will improve in the future.
“Psycho But It’s Okay” will be helmed by Park Shin Woo, the director behind the hit dramas “Encounter” and “Don’t Dare to Dream (Jealousy Incarnate).” Actress Seo Ye Ji was previously confirmed to be in talks to play the female lead, and the drama is currently scheduled to air sometime in the first half of the year.
