Wheesung Forwarded To Prosecution Over Suspicions Of Illegal Drug Use

The police have forwarded Wheesung to the prosecution over suspicions of propofol use.

On April 23, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency shared that after booking Wheesung without detention for suspicions of violating the Narcotics Control Act and questioning him, they have sent him to the prosecution with a recommendation of indictment.

In relation to this case, the police have arrested one drug dealer and they’re investigating the source of the propofol. Last December, the police acquired testimony from a drug dealer who said that Wheesung had purchased propofol.

Wheesung was investigated over suspicions of propofol use in 2013, during his military service. He was alleged to have regularly using the drug in several places including a dermatology clinic from 2011 to early 2013. Wheesung stated that the drug was taken due to a herniated disc in his spine as well as partial hair loss. On July 10, 2013, he was cleared of the suspicions.

Last April, he was again involved in a controversy about alleged use of the drug. TV personality Amy claimed that he had taken propofol with her often and begged her to take the blame. She also said that he planned to take sexual footage of her to use as blackmail. Wheesung later shared a recording of a phone call with Amy where she said this had been a lie and she later apologized via social media. Following recent developments, Amy stated that her claims were in fact true and she had taken them back because she had sympathized with Wheesung, who had been her closest friend.

In late March and early April, Wheesung was found unconscious twice after taking an anesthetic with similar effects to propofol. Unlike propofol, this anesthetic is not an illegal drug, and so he was questioned by police as a testifier before being released.
