EXO's Baekhyun Takes No. 1 With "Candy"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2020, June Week 1
Baekhyun’s “Candy” debuted all the way at the top spot this week, edging out last week’s champion, IU’s “eight,” by just four points. This is Baekhyun’s first No. 1 song on our chart as a solo artist. His group EXO has topped the chart several times, and and he also hit No. 1 in 2016 through his duet “Dream” with Suzy. Congratulations to Baekhyun!
“Candy” is the title track from Baekhyun’s second mini album “Delight.” It is a futuristic R&B song with a trendy melody and an addictive synth sound. The lyrics compare Baekhyun’s colorful charms to various flavors of candy.
There are four songs from the tvN drama “Hospital Playlist” in the top 10 this week, with two that newly rose to the top 10.
Moving up 23 spots to No. 3 is Jeon Mi Do’s “I knew I love,” the 11th single from “Hospital Playlist.” Playing a tone-deaf character in this popular drama, Jeon Mi Do is actually an award-winning musical actress in real life. She shows off her stunning vocals in this remake of Shin Hyo Bum’s hit song from 2006.
Up six spots is Kyuhyun from Super Junior with “Confession Is Not Flashy,” also from “Hospital Playlist.” It has been on the chart for eight weeks and has finally climbed into the top 10. This song was originally released in 1993, sung by Lee Seung Hwan.
