Paintings By WINNER's Song Mino Displayed In Exhibit At London's Saatchi Gallery
Artwork by WINNER’s Song Mino is included in an exhibit at London’s Saatchi Gallery!
On October 19, Song Mino shared photos on Instagram of one of his paintings being moved into the gallery. He wrote in the caption, “#Korean Eye #STARTNET #Saatchi.”
A post on October 18 also showed more of his artwork being hung in the gallery, with the caption “#saatchi.”
Saatchi Gallery is a famous contemporary art gallery established in 1985 in London, England. Song Mino’s acrylic paintings will be displayed as part of the “Korean Eye 2020: Creativity and Daydream” exhibit in the STARTnet art fair from October 21 to 25. This makes him the first Korean singer to have their work displayed in the Saatchi Gallery!
Song Mino stated, “In my paintings I use the harmony of shapes and colors as a way to capture the fleeting emotions that one cannot express through words.” He continued, “In this day and age, I feel that language itself cannot function in its right form. I wanted to create another type of communication, where the remnants of our feelings that are buried and hidden away can be conveyed through simple and distorted shapes.”
“The inability to have real inter-personal relationships and human touch in the world we currently live in has made me realize that I am unable to escape feelings of emptiness and hollowness,” he stated. “I try to capture the moments where I realize these primitive emotions, which I had previously tried to deny.”
The WINNER member previously made his official debut as an artist last December when three of his works were included in the Special Exhibition for Emerging Artists at the Seongnam Arts Center’s 808 Gallery.
Meanwhile, Song Mino is currently getting ready to release his second full solo album “TAKE” on October 30.
