Watch: Jo Byeong Gyu Shares Excitement For Upcoming Variety Show With Yoo Jae Suk, Names A Guest He Wants To Invite, And More

Ahead of the premiere of Yoo Jae Suk’s new variety show, fellow MC Jo Byeong Gyu talked about his excitement, hopes for potential guests, and more!

The new KBS variety show is called “Come Back Home” and will feature celebrities going back to the places where they first began their lives in Seoul after moving to the city. There, they will meet the young people who are living in those places now and cheer them on as they chase their own dreams.

In two recently released pre-production interviews, Jo Byeong Gyu talked about making his first attempt at hosting a variety show. He explained that as soon as he saw the proposal, he said he wanted to do it without hesitation.

Jo Byeong Gyu added, “The first variety show I went on was ‘Happy Together‘ and I had good memories from then. The most charming thing [about the proposal] was that I could return to Yoo Jae Suk and ‘Happy Together,’ my first variety show.”

When asked who his role model was, Jo Byeong Gyu answered with a big smile, “He’s right next to me,” implying Yoo Jae Suk. He elaborated, “While I’m very happy to be able to work with Yoo Jae Suk, I wonder whether I’ll be able to complement him well. I have to make sure I don’t become an inconvenience to him.” He jokingly added, “That’s why I’ve been going to the gym.”

Jo Byeong Gyu further discussed why he was drawn to the program, sharing, “I got goosebumps looking at the proposal because the first place I lived in in Gangnam was a rooftop apartment. I thought, ‘This is mine.'” He continued, “When I just sat on the rooftop, I felt a lot of comfort. I could see the moon well so I think I went outside a lot to think about my script while receiving the moon’s energy.”

Laughing, he revealed, “Just by nature, I absolutely hate when I appear boring. I’ve come here with the mindset that I’m all-in.”

Lastly, Jo Byeong Gyu also shared that he wanted to invite IU as a guest. He sent her an impromptu video message, saying, “I always rewatch your concert videos. You’re the best.”
