Jo Han Sun's Agency Denies Allegations Of School Violence

Jo Han Sun’s agency has responded after allegations of school violence were leveled against the actor.

On March 7, a post was uploaded on an online community by someone (hereafter referred to as “A”) who said they’d been in the same class as Jo Han Sun in middle school. They attached a photo of the actor from the school’s 1997 yearbook and described Jo Han Sun as having been a notorious delinquent. A stated that the actor had already been over 180 centimeters (approximately 5 feet, 11 inches) tall during middle school and had scared smaller students with his physical strength, and A wrote that they had been assaulted by Jo Han Sun during class.

“I experienced frequent violence and verbal abuse, I had to do errands for him at the store, and I was sexually harassed,” they wrote.

“Once in the music room, I was sitting right next to Jo Han Sun and he told me to touch his genitals. I refused and was then assaulted,” said A. They also wrote, “He told me to buy gum from the store, but the brand he wanted wasn’t available so I bought something else, and he swore at me and became violent. I still remember that.” A also wrote that Jo Han Sun would take part when a group of delinquents were violent toward weaker students.

On March 10, his agency Mystic Story stated, “We checked with the actor himself immediately after seeing the post, and we confirmed that it is not true at all.”

Korea is recently seeing a social movement of victims of school violence and bullying coming forward about their experiences. This comes after famous Korean volleyball athletes, twins Lee Jae Yeong and Lee Da Yeong, were revealed to have bullied their classmates in their school days and were ultimately removed from the national team.
