BTS Scores Unprecedented Top 2 Spots On IFPI's Global Album Sales Chart + BLACKPINK Lands No. 5
BTS has accomplished an amazing feat on the IFPI’s Global Album Sales Chart!
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is an organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide, and it’s now shared its annual ranking of the best-selling albums across global physical sales and digital downloads.
BTS’s “Map of the Soul: 7” is the winner on the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart 2020. Released in February 2020, the album broke the all-time sales record in Korea, topped charts in the world’s five largest music markets (United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, France), and more.
In No. 2 is BTS’s the group’s Billboard 200-topping album “BE (Deluxe Edition),” which came out in November 2020. BTS’s fourth Japanese full album “Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~” also scores a spot in the Top 10, taking No. 8.
IFPI Chief Executive Frances Moore shared, “BTS’ success across IFPI’s global charts—including the top two positions in this chart—is unprecedented and demonstrates the amazing global appeal of their music. We would like to congratulate the band once again on such a successful year.”

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK debuts in the Top 10 of the annual chart with “The Album,” which was released in October 2020 and is the group’s first Korean full album.

It was recently also announced that BTS is IFPI’s Global Recording Artist of the Year for 2020, and their track “Dynamite” took the No. 10 spot on its 2020 Global Digital Single Chart.
BTS also became the first artist to top IFPI’s newly launched Global Album All Format Chart, which ranks the best-selling albums of the year across all consumption formats (including physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming platforms). BTS’s “Map of the Soul: 7” grabbed No. 1 on the new chart while “BE (Deluxe Edition)” took No. 4.
