BTS Rules Billboard's Hot 100 For Historic Seventh Straight Week With 'Butter'

BTS has hit the special number seven mark with their smash hit single, “Butter”!

On July 12 local time, Billboard announced that “Butter” had topped the Hot 100 chart—its weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States—for the seventh straight week in a row.

Once again, “Butter” extends its record as the longest-running No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 by any Asian act in history. “Butter” also continues to be the song with the longest No. 1 streak from its debut on the chart by any group apart from Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” in 1995.

“Butter” was also the top-selling song of the week and topped the Digital Song Sales chart for the seventh week. It placed No. 21 on the Radio Songs chart and No. 26 on the Streaming Songs chart. The song garnered 29.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 6 percent from last week) and 10.8 million U.S. streams, and sold 108,800 for the week ending on July 8.

“Butter” also placed No. 10 on the Pop Airplay chart, becoming their second Top 10 hit on the mainstream Top 40 radio-based chart. (“Dynamite” placed No. 5 last December.) BTS is the first all-Korean act with multiple Top 10 hits on the Pop Airplay chart, and PSY is the only other artist from South Korea to have reached the Top 10 on that chart.

This week’s Hot 100 is for the week dated July 17. The full charts will update on Billboard on July 13 local time. BTS released a new single, “Permission to Dance,” on July 9, which is set to debut on next week’s Hot 100 chart (dated July 24).

Congratulations to BTS!
