NewJeans Breaks Record For Highest 1st-Week Sales Of Any Girl Group Debut Album In Hanteo History
HYBE’s newest girl group NewJeans has set another record with their debut EP!
Last week, NewJeans—a new five-member girl group launched by Min Hee Jin’s HYBE sub-label ADOR—released the physical version of their self-titled debut EP, which was first released online on August 1.
After achieving the highest first-day sales of any girl group debut album in Hanteo history, “New Jeans” has gone on to break yet another record. According to Hanteo Chart, “New Jeans” sold an impressive total of 311,271 copies in the first week of its release (August 8 to 14)—marking the highest first-week sales of any girl group debut album to date.
The previous record for highest first-week sales of a girl group debut album belonged to HYBE’s other rookie girl group LE SSERAFIM, who sold 307,450 copies of their debut mini album “FEARLESS” in the first week of its release back in May.
Less than a month into their debut, NewJeans has now become the girl group with the eighth-highest first-week sales in Hanteo history. The only girl groups to have achieved higher first-week sales to date are aespa, BLACKPINK, ITZY, Red Velvet, IZ*ONE, IVE, and TWICE.
Congratulations to NewJeans on their amazing achievement!
