BTS's Jimin Makes History As 1st Korean Soloist To Top Billboard's Hot 100 With "Like Crazy"
BTS’s Jimin has made history after landing in the top spot of Billboard’s Hot 100!
On April 3 local time, Billboard revealed the top 10 of their latest Hot 100 chart, its weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States. For the Hot 100 chart dated April 8, “Like Crazy” by BTS’s Jimin has debuted at No. 1, marking the first No. 1 hit of his solo career and making him the first-ever South Korean soloist to top the chart!
In its first week of release from March 24 to 30, “Like Crazy” sold a combined total of over 254,000 song downloads and CD singles, in addition to garnering 10 million streams and 64,000 radio airplay audience impressions. This sales sum marks the highest in a single week since last November after Taylor Swift released “Anti-Hero.”
“Like Crazy” is Jimin’s second unaccompanied solo entry on the Hot 100 after his pre-release track “Set Me Free Pt. 2” debuted at No. 30 last week. Jimin’s new No. 1 Hot 100 entry breaks PSY’s record for highest-charting Korean soloist (set in 2012 by “Gangnam Style” which peaked at No. 2) and makes him the first BTS member to rank within the top 20 of this chart.
As both Jimin and his BTS bandmate RM are credited as two of seven co-writers for “Like Crazy,” Jimin now earns his first Hot 100 No. 1 as a writer while RM scores his fourth. (RM is credited as a writer on BTS’s Hot 100 No. 1 tracks “My Universe,” “Butter,” and “Life Goes On.”)
Outside of the Hot 100, “Like Crazy” has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, Top Album Sales chart, and World Digital Song Sales chart. On Billboard’s two global charts, the Global 200 and the Global Excl. U.S. chart, Jimin’s “Like Crazy” has debuted at No. 2. He also makes his debut on the Streaming Songs chart at No. 35.
On April 2 local time, Billboard announced that Jimin’s first solo album “FACE” had entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2, making him the first Korean solo artist in history to reach the top 2 of the chart.
A huge congratulations to Jimin on his incredible new achievement!
