"Smugglers" Surpasses 1 Million Moviegoers In Less Than 4 Days
The star-studded new film “Smugglers” is off to a strong start at the Korean box office!
According to the Korean Film Council, “Smugglers” officially surpassed 1 million moviegoers at around 11:40 a.m. KST on July 29. The film was originally released on July 26, meaning that it took less than four days to reach the milestone.
“Smugglers” is now the second-fastest Korean film to hit the 1 million mark in 2023, bested only by “The Roundup: No Way Out” (“The Outlaws 3”).
An action crime film set in the 1970s, “Smugglers” tells the story of deep sea divers in a peaceful village who unexpectedly get tangled up in a high-stakes smuggling scheme. Helmed by “Veteran” and “Escape from Mogadishu” director Ryu Seung Wan, the movie stars Kim Hye Soo, Yum Jung Ah, Jo In Sung, Park Jung Min, Go Min Si, Kim Jong Soo, and more.
