SF9's Chani, Han Seung Yeon, Son Woo Hyun, And More Confirmed To Join Go Ah Sung And Jang Ryul's Upcoming Historical Drama
TVING’s upcoming drama “The Love Story of Chunhwa” (working title) has finalized its cast!
On August 8, TVING officially announced the cast lineup for its new series “The Love Story of Chunhwa,” which was previously confirmed to star Go Ah Sung and Jang Ryul.
“The Love Story of Chunhwa” is a romance historical drama that follows the story of a princess who sets out to find a husband for herself instead of marrying the one chosen by her father, the king. The drama also shows the search for the person who drew the princess as the subject of a chunhwa (erotic paintings from an earlier period).
Go Ah Sung will take on the role of Princess Hwa Ri. She’s a princess who belongs to the lineage of the King’s lawful wife and dates freely before she declares that she will find her own husband.
Jang Ryul will play the role of Choi Hwan, the first husband candidate for Princess Hwa Ri and a playboy who possesses both wealth and looks.
SF9’s Chani, who impressed through his previous historical drama “The Queen’s Umbrella,” will star as Sungkyunkwan’s elite scholar Jang Won.
Son Woo Hyun plays the role of the Crown Prince and Hwa Ri’s eldest brother while KARA’s Han Seung Yeon will take on the role of Ji Won, Jang Won’s younger sister who has intelligence and beauty.
Im Hwa Young plays the role of Crown Princess In Jeong, who married the Crown Prince at a young age. Do Yeon Jin will star as Princess Hwa Ri’s rival Hwa Jin, a princess who was born to the King’s concubine. Kim Taek will play Prince Hwa Seong, Hwa Ri’s second older brother, while rookie actor Bae Yoon Gyu will take on the role of genius painter Min Hong.
Veteran actors will also be joining the drama. Park Won Sang will star as Hwa Ri’s father and the King while Park Sun Young will star as the Queen. They remain upright and maintain their integrity while charismatically protecting their positions even in the midst of fierce power struggles, but deep down, they care more about their families than anyone else.
The production team commented, “We will maintain a bright atmosphere suitable for the romance historical genre while also portraying the characters’ growth through challenging events with delicate detail. We try to direct the drama in an innovative and fresh way with a mind of constantly challenging ourselves so please kindly give ‘The Love Story of Chunhwa’ lots of interest.”
“The Love Story of Chunhwa” is set to be released in 2024.
