Jo Jung Suk Is Drawn To Shin Se Kyung In Disguise In New Drama "Captivating The King"
tvN’s upcoming drama “Captivating the King” has shared a sneak peek of Jo Jung Suk and Shin Se Kyung’s first meeting!
Penned by “The Crowned Clown” writer Kim Sun Deok, “Captivating the King” will tell the love story of King Yi In (Jo Jung Suk), a miserable monarch who feels empty inside despite his high position, and Kang Hee Soo (Shin Se Kyung), whose initial plot of revenge against him transforms into an unexpected attraction.
In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, Kang Hee Soo disguises herself as a male Go player as part of her plan to overthrow the king. While playing a game of Go, her gaze turns sharp and fiery in the blink of an eye.
The disguised Kang Hee Soo catches the eye of King Yi In, who happens to be out for a leisurely stroll. Instinctively drawn to this skillful player, Yi In is unable to take his eyes off her as he watches her with a curious gaze.
Furthermore, when the gambling Go players angrily rebuke Yi In, Kang Hee Soo is the only one who boldly stands up for him and expresses her support of the king—and in the process, she winds up stealing the lonely Yi In’s heart.
Praising the leads’ acting, the “Captivating the King” production team commented, “Jo Jung Suk and Shin Se Kyung are detailed acting experts who don’t miss the subtle emotional changes [in their characters] from moment to moment.”
They went on to add, “Please look forward to the chemistry between the two actors, whose characters will build a layered fate together after their impactful first meeting.”
“Captivating the King” will premiere on January 21 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
