Watch: Mnet's New Vocal Boy Group Survival Show "Build Up" Brings Celebrity Judges To Tears In Episode 1 Preview
Mnet’s upcoming survival show “Build Up” has shared a new sneak peek of its premiere!
“Build Up” is a new survival program in which 40 contestants—many of whom are members of current boy groups—will compete for the chance to debut in a project vocal boy group.
Actress Lee Da Hee will be hosting the show, whose contestants will include PENTAGON’s Yeo One, CIX’s Seunghun, and members of groups like AB6IX, UP10TION, KNK, A.C.E, WEi, ONE PACT, VANNER, JUST B, BDC, Newkidd, and more.
The newly released preview of Episode 1 begins with the contestants getting ready for a fierce vocal competition. One contestant says in voice-over, “It felt like we were there for a war,” while another sums up his mindset by saying, “Let’s just survive for now.”
During the “vocal check-in” segment, the contestants vote on each other’s skills, and they also criticize the vocal performances that didn’t impress them. Later, they are surprised by not only the voting results, but also the identity of an anonymous vocalist who wowed them with his talent.
Next, the show moves on to a “pre-4 mission” in which one contestant from each team is selected as “top-tier.”
After seeing them perform, the star-studded panel of judges—which includes Lee Seok Hoon, Baekho, MAMAMOO’s Solar, Red Velvet’s Wendy, BTOB’s Eunkwang, and Kim Jae Hwan—express their awe and amazement at the various teams’ performances.
“I think I teared up a little bit,” says Solar, while Kim Jae Hwan gets choked up with emotion and tearfully breaks off in the middle of his remarks.
“Build Up” will premiere on January 26 at 10:10 p.m. KST. In the meantime, check out the new preview below!
