Yoo Teo Is 1st Korean Male To Be Nominated For Best Actor At BAFTA Film Awards; "Past Lives" Earns 3 Nominations In Total
“Past Lives” scored multiple nominations for this year’s EE British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Film Awards!
Written and directed by Celine Song in her feature directorial debut, “Past Lives” tells the story of two childhood sweethearts who are briefly reunited in New York after decades apart.
The critically acclaimed film has now been nominated for three BAFTA Film Awards: Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Not in the English Language, and Best Leading Actor (Yoo Teo).
Notably, star Yoo Teo is the first Korean male ever to be nominated for an acting award at the prestigious British awards ceremony. Back in 2021, Youn Yuh Jung became the first Korean actress to score an acting nomination for her performance in “Minari”—and she ultimately went on to win the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress.
The 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards will be held on February 18 local time in London.
Congratulations to Yoo Teo, Celine Song, and the rest of the “Past Lives” cast and crew!
