Kim Min Kyu Dishes On His New Rom-Com Drama With EXO's Suho, "Missing Crown Prince"
Kim Min Kyu has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Missing Crown Prince”!
MBN’s “Missing Crown Prince” is a romantic comedy set in the Joseon era about a crown prince who is kidnapped by the woman who is set to become his wife. While on the run for their lives, romance winds up blossoming between them. The drama is a spin-off of “Bossam: Steal the Fate,” which set a new record for the highest viewership ratings in MBN history.
EXO’s Suho will star as Crown Prince Lee Geon, while Hong Ye Ji will play Choi Myung Yoon, the only daughter of the royal physician Choi Sang Rok.
Kim Min Kyu will play Lee Geon’s younger half-brother Prince Dosung, who is the son of King Haejong’s second wife. Just like his older brother Lee Geon, Dosung is blessed with good looks, martial arts skills, eloquence, and determination, but he has a hot temper that leads him to act with his fists before using his words. Although he loves his brother more than anyone, conflict winds up arising between the two half-siblings in the aftermath of the crown prince’s disappearance.
“Honestly, because this is my first period drama, it would be a lie to say that I didn’t feel any pressure,” confessed Kim Min Kyu. “But it was a kind of character that I’d never played before, so I really wanted to [take on the challenge].”
The former “Produce X 101” contestant went on, “I’d dare to say that it’s my favorite of all the characters I’ve played up until now, and even though my heart aches a lot, I find myself caring a lot about the character. In light of the fact that the director and writers trusted me and gave me this opportunity, I am working my hardest in order to not drag down the drama, so please keep an eye on me.”
Meanwhile, the drama’s production company praised Kim Min Kyu’s acting. “We were surprised by how the look in Kim Min Kyu’s eyes changed to match each situation,” they said. “We’re confident that not only his handsome appearance, but also the varying emotions Kim Min Kyu displays through his acting will make the drama even more solid.”
“Missing Crown Prince” premieres on April 13 at 9:40 p.m. KST and will be available to watch on Viki.
