Watch: Ji Sung, Jeon Mi Do, Kim Kyung Nam, And Kwon Yool Preview Entangled Friendships In "Connection" Teaser
SBS’s upcoming drama “Connection” has released its first teaser!
“Connection” is a new crime thriller starring Ji Sung as Jang Jae Kyung, an ace detective of the narcotics unit who becomes forcibly addicted to a drug. Jeon Mi Do stars as Oh Yoon Jin, an opinionated and outspoken reporter who works at a newspaper. The drama is a collaboration between director Lee Tae Gon and writer Lee Hyun, who previously worked together for JTBC’s “Diary of a Prosecutor.”
Ji Sung plays detective Jang Jae Kyung, the leader of the narcotics team at Anhyun Police Station, who is respected by his juniors and trusted by his seniors within the police force.
However, in the new teaser, Jang Jae Kyung is ironically seen looking high in a video taken by an unknown person, raising questions about who might have filmed the video and why. What is clear, though, is that he has been forced to take a drug—a new kind of drug that doesn’t even exist in the police records—and is now addicted to it. Jang Jae Kyung then attempts to track down the culprit before realizing that they’ve already disappeared.
Next, Jang Jae Kyung runs furiously to the funeral of an old friend, where he meets two other friends he hasn’t seen for over 20 years: Won Jong Soo (Kim Kyung Nam) and Park Tae Jin (Kwon Yool). Both Won Jong Soo, the vice chairman of Geum Hyun Group, and Park Tae Jin, a prosecutor at the Anhyun District Prosecutors’ Office, are part of an “inner circle” that will stand in the way of Jang Jae Kyung and Oh Yoon Jin as they try to pursue the truth about their friend’s death.
In one scene, Won Jong Soo and Park Tae Jin appear to be having a suspicious argument outside the funeral, with Won Jong Soo agitatedly grabbing Park Tae Jin by his coat and ordering him, “Whatever comes out, do whatever you can to stop it.” As all the friends gather at the funeral’s dining area, Oh Yoon Jin says in voice-over, “They are trying to cover up the case.” Ironically, Won Jong Soo and Park Tae Jin can be seen wearing armbands that indicate that they are the chief mourners at the funeral.
Whatever it might be, it’s clear that there is a “connection” between their entangled friendships and the case, so stay tuned to learn more!
“Connection” is set to premiere on May 24 at 10 p.m. KST. Check out the new teaser video below!
