Spoilers
The first episode of “Bitter Sweet Hell” ended on a surprising cliffhanger. After the sudden death of her father-in-law Choi Go Myun (Kwon Hae Hyo), Noh Young Won was shocked to learn that he had been involved in her father’s death. At the very end of the episode, Noh Young Won unexpectedly witnessed Hong Sa Gang dancing in glee after her husband’s passing.
In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming second episode, Noh Young Won and Hong Sa Gang run into each other at the spot where Choi Go Myun died. While reading a novel written by Hong Sa Gang, Noh Young Won makes an unexpected realization about her father-in-law’s death—but just when she thinks she’s figured something out, Hong Sa Gang appears before her in the flesh.
After being startled to see one another, Noh Young Won and Hong Sa Gang share a frosty conversation while keeping their distance from each other. Noh Young Won openly suspects Hong Sa Gang of Choi Go Myun’s murder, and Hong Sa Gang gives Noh Young Won the chills by maintaining perfect composure as she coldly responds to her daughter-in-law’s accusations.
Praising the two leading ladies’ acting, the “Bitter Sweet Hell” production team commented, “Kim Hee Sun and Lee Hye Young flawlessly portrayed the subtle war of nerves between the daughter- and mother-in-law duo, who go back and forth between repression and eruption of emotion.”
The second episode of “Bitter Sweet Hell” will air on May 25 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
