Soompi's 14th Birthday Celebration!

Greetings, Citizens of Soompi!

Fourteen years ago, on a March 27th not unlike today, a tiny little website called Soompi Town was born. Here, we celebrated groups like H.O.T., Shinhwa, S.E.S., and Fin.K.L., while sharing pictures scanned from magazines, translated articles, as well as the latest albums. 

Those of you who have been around for a while — a year, five years, ten years — know that Soompi has gone through its fair share of ups and downs, but rain or shine, we’ve been bringing you the best in K-Pop music and dramas. We’re very proud of our colorful forum community, where you can talk about relationships, fashion, cars; rant about a bad day; share creative fanfics; and of course, spazz about your favorites in Korean entertainment. It’s this community of friends which has always made Soompi special, so a big THANK YOU to everyone who’s ever participated — all you lurkers, conversation-makers, encouragers, consolers, fashion advisors, tech support, and especially our incredible volunteer admin and moderating staff.

I want to give a special shout-out to one of our forum admins, Godotology, formerly known as DAS (#14 below). He was on the ORIGINAL Soompi staff, the very first group of people who stepped up to help after I had been going it alone the first couple years — thank you! Also, a shout-out to anyone who’s still around that is in this original Soompi Royale lineup below. Speaking of, with all the hype around The Hunger Games (which I am minorly obsessed with), be sure to check out our old homage to Battle Royale with our original animations by Mori (#02 below): Soompi Royale: Episode 1, Special Episode 1.5, Episode 2.

Like I said, the past fourteen years have been interesting, and we’re about to enter yet another phase in the life of Soompi. We’ll be revamping the site with some welcome improvements, moving to new servers, and adding some features that will make your life easier (on Soompi, at least!). We’ll be filling you in on the details soon, so please stay tuned!

Anyhow, it’s not a party without PRESENTS, so let’s give some stuff away! In honor of our fourteenth birthday, we will be giving away fourteen Soompi t-shirts to fourteen Soompiers! Aren’t they cute?
