Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2014 – November Week 2
There is a big shake up on top of our chart this week as two songs from outside of the top 10 last week moves up to take the top two spots. Both Epik High’s “Happen Ending” and BEAST’s “12:30” took all the music show wins last week as “Happen Ending” won on M!Countdown while “12:30” won on Show Champion, Music Bank, Music Core, and Inkigayo. The two songs were also were close in independent charts. In the end, our Soompi Airplay decided the winner this week with Epik High scoring more points. Congratulations to Epik High.
“Happen Ending” is one of the two title songs from Epik High’s 8th album “Shoebox,” their first full album in two years. Featuring the vocal of Roller Coaster’s Cho Won Sun, this song is reminiscent of a French movie OST. The calm melody expresses a person who suffers from frequent parting and is tired of words of encouragement. “Happen Ending” moves up 12 spots to the top this week.
Also moving up 12 spots to No. 2 is BEAST’s “12:30.” This is an R&B ballad quite different from what we heard from BEAST. It is coming from their mini-album “Time.” “12:30” has a piano melody and a refined rhythm like a drama OST song. The lyrics are about the longing a person feels after separation, using the clock hand as a comparison.
As mentioned above, Epik High’s new album has two title songs. The second title song “Spoiler” is the third new song in our top 10 this week, moving up eight spots to No. 7. This song is a hip-hop ballad about people who doesn’t want their significant others to have a change of heart.
