Jinwoon and Seulong Leaving JYP, Does This Mean the End of 2AM?
As idol ballad group 2AM nears their eighth year since debut, the contracts of member Jo Kwon, Jung Jinwoon, and Im Seulong with JYP Entertainment have come to an end.
However, Jo Kwon has decided to stay with the agency that he joined at a very young age, while Jinwoon and Seulong have signed with other companies to pursue their individual dreams. Seulong joins agency Sidus HQ. He joins the company to pursue acting, continuing the path he is one right now as a cast member of the tvN drama “Hogu’s Love.” Member Jinwoon is in the final stages of contract negotiation with Mystic89 Entertainment, which is run by fellow singer Yoon Jong Shin and houses the likes of Park Ji Yoon and Lim Kim.
Fellow 2AM member Changmin has seven months left in his contract with JYP. He is currently being managed by Big Hit Entertainment.
JYP Entertainment stated, “Out of the 2AM members, Jo Kwon has decided to stay at JYP. Im Seulong and Jung Jinwoon let us know that they wanted to move agencies to challenge new things and transformations, and JYP decided to respect their wishes.”
An official from the company added, “2AM is not disbanding. The members are getting along well like family. Their agencies will be different, but in accordance with their wishes, 2AM will continue as a team.”
A rep from Sidus HQ also stated, “If the opportunity comes, Seulong plans to continue as 2AM, so please send him a lot of support and love.”
2AM debuted in 2008 with the song “This Song.” Their most recent release was in October 2014 with the full-length studio album “Let’s Talk.”
