Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2015 – April Week 4
The top three songs remain the same as last week. It was another high scoring battle between EXO’s “Call Me Baby” and miss A’s “Only You.” With another week of music show sweeps, “Call Me Baby” ended up on top of our chart again this week, even though the gap with “Only You” has narrowed down to 10 points. Meanwhile, Red Velvet’s former No. 1 song “Ice Cream Cake” remains at No. 3 this week. Congratulations again to EXO.
There are three new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up 14 spots to No. 6 is Park Hyo Shin’s latest hit “Shine Your Light.” Unlike most of Park Hyo Shin’s previous hit songs, this is a rock ballad with guitar sound and sweet lyrics. Park Hyo Shin’s husky voice and sensuous vocal sets a dreamy mood for the song.
Legendary male vocalist Lee Moon Sae made a grand comeback to the K-Pop scene, as his song “Spring Breeze” moves up 14 spots to No. 8. This song is coming from his 15th album “New Direction,” his first full album in more than 12 years. Lee Moon Sae debuted way back in 1983, before many of today’s singers and fans were born. He has numerous hit songs throughout his career and many of his classic hits were remade by today’s top singers. Lee Moon Sae spent three years preparing for this new album. He collaborates with Brown Eyed Soul’s NaUl on the title song “Spring Breeze.” It is a mid-tempo rock ballad reminiscent of past love, which is perfectly made for this season.
Girls’ Generation returns to the top 10 this week, moving up five spots to No. 10 with “Catch Me If You Can.” This song is the Korean version of their Japanese single of the same name. It is an electronic dance song with fast beat, additive rhythm, and bold lyrics. Despite Girls’ Generation not promoting this song, it still makes the top 10.
