Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2015 – August Week 3
A Pink’s “Remember” remains No. 1 for the second straight week, winning it over their label mate BEAST’s “YeY.” “Remember” scores consistently over all our chart sources to capture the top spot again. Congratulations again to A Pink.
BEAST’s “YeY” is one of the three brand new songs in the top 10 this week, moving up 14 spots to No. 2. This song is the title track of the group’s eighth mini-album “Ordinary.” It is an electro dance song with lively beat and synth sound. The chorus part is additive. The lyrics are about being sick of people and love. “YeY” swept all music show wins last week, but did not score as well as “Remember” on other chart sources so it settles at No. 2 this week.
Rookie female group GFRIEND scores their first top 10 hit with “Me Gustas Tu,” moving up four spots to No. 7. GFRIEND’s debut hit “Glass Bead” only went as high as No. 12 earlier this year, despite logging 18 weeks on the chart. Now they finally have their first top 10. “Me Gustas Tu” is the title track of GFRIEND’s second mini-album “Flower Bud.” It means “I Love You” in Spanish. This song is a bubbly dance song with a very listener friendly melody. It brings out the members’ vibrant and youthful qualities. GFRIEND is one of the more popular new artists in 2015 and they are a leading candidate for this year’s rookie artist award.
Another artist scoring his first top 10 hit is Yoo Seung Woo. His song “You’re Beautiful” moves up 13 spots to No. 10. This song is coming from his single album of the same name. The comfortable song showcases Yoo Seung Woo’s innocent yet mature qualities. Louie of the rap duo Geeks is the featured rapper for this song.
