Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2015 – October Week 2
Red Velvet’s “Dumb Dumb” refuses to let go the top spot and surprisingly held on for the third week in a row. Despite challenges from many new songs, “Dumb Dumb” remains consistent across all our chart sources in a wide open week. It is enough to win for another week. Congratulations again to Red Velvet.
Likewise, iKON’s debut hit “My Type” also remains at No. 2. This song was No. 1 on Inkigayo last week but iKON has subsequently released their debut half album and took away some of the scores from “My Type.” The double title tracks “RHYTHM TA” and “AIRPLANE” is expected to hit our chart next week.
There are four new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up 19 spots to No. 3 is Gary’s “Get Some Air.” This song is the title track of Gary’s first official full album “2002.” That was the year Gary’s group LeeSsang debuted. “Get Some Air” featured the vocal of new R&B artist MIWOO. Her unique voice fits well with Gary’s seamless rapping. It is an emotionally filled song with heartfelt lyrics. Despite no promotions, this song did very well on every music chart.
The queen of collaboration strikes again as SISTAR’s Soyu teams up with 10cm’s Kwon Jung Yeol for the song “Lean On Me,” moving up 12 spots to No. 4. This is an acoustic ballad with heart warming melody that is perfect for the fall season. “Lean On Me” was the M!Countdown winner last week. This is the second collaborations between the singers. Soyu teamed up with Urban Zakapa on “The Space Between” last year that went to No. 2 on our chart. Let see if this song will do one spot better and becomes the No. 1 song next week.
Block B’s Park Kyung has his first solo top 10 hit as he teams up with singer Park Bo Ram on “Ordinary Love,” up 18 spots to No. 7 this week. This is a mid-tempo sweet love song. Park Kyung not only duets with Park Bo Ram but he also does the rap lines. They tell us a story about falling in love. “Ordinary Love” won on Music Core last week.
Also moving up 18 spots to No. 8 is veteran actor and ballad artist Lim Chang Jung’s “Love Again.” It is the title track of Lim Chang Jung’s first mini-album of the same name. Written by the singer himself, “Love Again” has a beautiful piano melody that starts out slowly and reaches a climax at the chorus part. Lim Chang Jung’s trademark emotional vocal will captivate your ears. Despite facing many songs from big name idol artists, “Love Again” unanimously topped all of our internet chart sources and also the GAON chart last week, proving once again that the Kpop music industry is much more than just idol artists.
