Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2016 – June Week 1
For the fourth straight week, TWICE’s “Cheer Up” is our No. 1 song. This song seemed to get even stronger this week, being only eight points off a perfect score. “Cheer Up” won on Inkigayo, Music Bank, and M!Countdown last week, and still dominates on all other chart sources. It is our first four-week champion this year. The last song did it was Red Velvet’s “Dumb Dumb” from last year. Congratulations again to TWICE.
Moving up nine spots to No. 2 is AOA’s new song “Good Luck.” This is the title track from AOA’s fourth mini-album of the same name. It is a dance song filled with intense drum beats and low bass sounds. The addictive chorus is the highlight of this song. The lyrics are about a confident woman saying “good luck” to appeal to men. This song had high enough points to top the chart but is facing extraordinary competition in “Cheer Up” this week and has to settle for No. 2. Let’s see if it can move up to the top spot next week.
There is one other new song in the top 10 this week. Moving up five spots to No. 7 is ex-Girls’ Generation member Jessica, scoring her first top 10 solo hit with “Fly.” It is the title track from her first solo album “With Love, J.” “Fly” has an additive melody and upbeat rhythm. Jessica took part in writing this song and also penned the lyrics. The lyrics tell listeners they can achieve anything if they keep on dreaming.
