Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2016 – June Week 3
EXID picks up another No. 1 song on our chart with their latest hit “L.I.E,” moving up from No. 11 last week. EXID debuted in 2012 but was only starting to become popular in the past two years. They finally released their first full length album “Street.” The title song “L.I.E” is a listener friendly dance pop track combined with hip-hop, R&B, and funk sounds. It describes the changes of emotions we feel in our everyday lives. “L.I.E” won on Inkigayo and Show Champion last week. Congratulations to EXID.
Baek Ah Yeon’s “So So” remain at No. 2 this week. This song won on M!Countdown last week. Overall it scores more points than last week but was being leapfrogged by “L.I.E.”
Rounding out the all female top three is TWICE’s “Cheer Up.” This song is still going strong, winning on Music Bank last week. It remains at No. 3.
There are two other new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up five spots to No. 9 is iKON’s “#WYD.” The song title is a short form of “What You Doing.” It is a sweet and refreshing song which is different than their usual hard core hip-hop tracks. Members B.I and Bobby wrote the catchy and witty lyrics for the song.
Debuting at No. 10 is EXO’s much anticipated new song “Monster.” It is one of the two title tracks from EXO’s third album “EX’ACT.” This is a dance song with synth melody and drum beat in hip-hop style. The lyrics describe a man’s desire and obsession over his love that makes him feel like a monster. This song will be the odds on favorite to become our new No. 1 song next week.
