JYP Entertainment And Soompi Present: Rising Legends – Accepting Entries Now!

Here at Soompi, we’re all about giving fans opportunities to get closer to their idols. And there’s nothing closer than debuting as an idol yourself!

Presenting Rising Legends, a worldwide audition event for international K-pop star hopefuls, presented by Soompi and our partner JYP Entertainment, home of legendary groups like Wonder Girls, 2PM, GOT7, Park Jin Young, and more!

If you’ve been around for the past few years, you may have noticed that our annual Soompi Ulzzang (Best Face) competition was notably absent from the events line-up last year. Consider Rising Legends as a revamped version, where we place more of a premium on your singing, rapping, and dancing talents. And just like our previous Soompi Ulzzang partners – Sidus HQ, Nega Network, and TS Entertainment  – JYP Entertainment will be offering an interview to our finalists in each of those three categories. Our 2011 Soompi Ulzzang winner E.Den ended up debuting as a member of Nega Network’s LC9, so yes, this means you have a chance to join your favorite K-pop acts on stage for real!

Rising Legends will be held in three rounds. As always, the winners and finalists will be largely determined by audience vote, but this year we’re going all-in. For the last and final round, finalists’ scores will make up of 50% judges’ votes and 50% audience vote. Fuse’s Jeff Benjamin, Billboard contributor Tamar Herman, Buzzfeed’s Elaina Wahl, The Au Review’s Johnny Au, and Soompi’s very own founder Soomp will make up the experts judging panel as journalists at the forefront of international K-pop coverage.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

1. Record yourself singing, dancing, or rapping to a cover or original song. Songs must be under 2 minutes in length.
2. Upload the video to Youtube, with the song title/artist, and “JYP x Soompi Rising Legends Audition” in the title.
   EX: “BTS – Dope Cover – JYP x Soompi Rising Legends Audition”
3. Fill out the submission form here.

*Personal information will not be revealed to the public. Will only provide information to JYP Entertainment if they’re interested in an interview with said contestant. If you are under the age of 18, make sure you have your parents’ permission before submitting.

Submissions will end on August 28, 11:59 a.m. KST / 7:59 p.m. PDT and is open to all users. Any incomplete entries or submissions after the deadline will not be accepted. Entries will be vetted by Soompi staff before Round 1, so be sure to send in your best videos!
