Red Velvet Reigns With "Russian Roulette": Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2016, October Week 1
Red Velvet’s “Russian Roulette” remains in the No. 1 spot this week! The song picked up wins on “Inkigayo,” “M!Countdown,” and “Show Champion” last week, while maintaining a solid score in all chart sources. Congratulations again to Red Velvet!
There are three new songs in the top 10 this week! Moving up eight spots to No. 4 is one of the more surprising hits in the top 10 this year. Indie duo Bolbbalgan Sachoongi scored their first top 10 hit with “Galaxy.” Bolbbalgan Sachoongi used to be a four member band when they participated on “Superstar K” season six, but they’re currently now a duo. “Galaxy” is a very refreshing song that compares a person’s love to the universe. The song and album was released more than a month ago but it’s gaining momentum each week. There’s a chance it might make it into the top three next week!
Moving up seven spots to No. 8 is a very special collaboration between two of Korea’s biggest stars. Korea’s national MC Yoo Jae Suk collaborates with popular male group EXO for “Dancing King.” The song contains a samba rhythm and a brass sound, with lyrics that are about forgetting the weary routine of daily life and dancing to have fun! “Dancing King” has outperformed EXO’s other hit song “Lotto,” which is one spot below at No. 9 this week.
Up 22 spots to No. 10 is 2PM’s new song “Promise (I’ll Be).” It’s the title song of their sixth full album “Gentleman’s Game,” and is an R&B song with an urban sound. It presents a love story that deals with the depths of faith and devotion.
