SHINee Slays With "1 Of 1"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2016, October Week 4
SHINee’s “1 of 1” becomes our new No. 1 song this week! The song moves up nine spots to win against last week’s champion, Apink’s “Only One.” “1 of 1” swept all the music shows last week and also recorded respectable scores in all other chart sources. Congratulations to SHINee!
We have three new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up 14 spots to No. 6 is a very special song from a very special male group. First generation K-pop idol group Sechs Kies returns after 16 years! Signed with YG Entertainment, Sechs Kies released their latest single “Three Words,” a ballad written by Epik High’s Tablo and producer Future Bounce. The song is about a man and a woman getting back together after a separation, similar to Sechs Kies and their fans. “Three Words” topped the GAON chart immediately after its release, and makes it to our top 10 this week, proving that fans are still supporting the group after all these years.
Debuting at No. 8 is Ailee’s new song “Home.” This song is the title track of Ailee’s fourth mini-album “A New Empire.” It is an R&B style song with an 808 bass and a catchy sound. The lyrics describe a sense of loneliness a woman feels at home as she thinks about the memories she had with her ex. Yoon Mi Rae is the featured rapper of this song.
Another new debut at No. 9 is “Blood Sweat & Tears” by BTS. It is the title song of their second full length album “Wings.” “Blood Sweat & Tears” is written by some of the BTS members along with top songwriters Hitman Bang and Kim Do Hoon. It is a Moombahton Trap song, a style you don’t often hear in K-pop! “Blood Sweat & Tears” topped the GAON chart this week. It might have a good chance to become our new No. 1 song next week!
