BTS Tops Chart With "Spring Day"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2017, March Week 1
Moving up from No. 9, BTS’s “Spring Day” is our new No. 1 song this week! After winning awards for Song Of The Year and Album Of The Year from the 12th annual Soompi Awards, BTS delivers another worthy album and song. “Spring Day” also swept all the music shows last week. Congratulations to BTS!
Last week’s No. 1 song, Red Velvet’s “Rookie,” drops down one spot to No. 2 this week. However, they won the Breakout Artist award from the 12th annual Soompi Awards! “Rookie” is a close second this week despite “Spring Day” winning on all the music shows.
Rounding out the top three is BIGBANG’s former No. 1 song “FXXK IT,” which rebounds from No. 7 last week.
There are three new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up 16 spots to No. 6 is the first top 10 hit by R&B artist Dean. His song “Come Over” is from his single album “Limbo.” Dean caught the attention of the K-pop world last year with his long running hit “D (Half Moon).” Now he finally gets his first taste of the top 10 with “Come Over,” which is about a man waking up from a dream where he relives happy memories of his ex-girlfriend. Baek Yerin of 15& is the featured female artist for this song.
Moving up six spots is a special collaboration track between two members of very popular K-pop groups. SISTAR’s Soyou has collaborated with many different artists in the past, earning her the title “queen of collaboration.” EXO’s Baekhyun collaborated with Suzy last year on “Dream,” which was the most popular duet song in 2016. Soyou and Baekhyun worked together for the first time with their new song “Rain,” an R&B style ballad with simple lyrics about a person thinking about a past relationship while watching the rain.
Debuting at No. 10 is TWICE’s new song “KNOCK KNOCK.” It is the title track of TWICE’s special album “TWICEcoaster: LANE 2.” TWICE achieved an amazing feat, winning the top female group in many of last year’s award ceremonies, including an award from the 12th annual Soompi Awards. It is almost unheard of for a recently debuted group to win top awards in just over one year, especially with the competition in today’s K-pop industry.
