Jo Byeong Gyu's Appearance In Yoo Jae Suk's New KBS Variety Show Put On Hold + Lee Young Ji To Join As MC
The MC lineup for Yoo Jae Suk’s new KBS variety show is undergoing some changes.
Previously, it was announced that Jo Byeong Gyu would be joining Yoo Jae Suk as an MC on the new show. Called “Come Back Home,” it features celebrities going back to the places where they began their lives in Seoul after moving to the city for the first time. The celebrities will meet the young people who are living there now and cheer them on toward their dreams.
On February 26, the “Come Back Home” production staff confirmed that rapper Lee Young Ji would be joining the show as an MC. The show also revealed a pre-production interview with Lee Young Ji that was filmed in January. Although Lee Young Ji’s appearance was only recently announced, the original plan was to have Jo Byeong Gyu and Lee Young Ji as MCs with Yoo Jae Suk.
However, Jo Byeong Gyu’s appearance on the show will be put on hold and Lee Young Ji and Yoo Jae Suk will be the two MCs for an unspecified period of time.
In a press release, the production staff stated, “We have kept in close touch with the recent issues surrounding MC Jo Byeong Gyu. Jo Byeong Gyu is currently in the midst of taking legal action against these controversies. However, as the legal results are taking longer than expected, and our broadcast plans need to be finalized, we have judged that it would not be appropriate to rush forward with his appearance on the show at this time. As a result, we have decided to postpone his appearance.”
The staff continued, “Our hope is for a clear investigation into the truth that does not create more victims on either side. All the cast and crew of ‘Come Back Home’ will give their all in order to create a good production for viewers.”
Jo Byeong Gyu has recently been swept up in allegations of school violence, which the actor and his agency have denied multiple times. The agency has requested a police investigation into the online rumors and has announced their intention to take legal action against further rumors.
Lee Young Ji won the third season of “High School Rapper” and became popular for her energetic and honest vibe in live broadcasts on social media. She has worked with Yoo Jae Suk on guest appearances on shows like “Running Man” and “How Do You Play?“.
“Come Back Home” will begin airing sometime in the first half of 2021.
