NewJeans' "Get Up" Becomes 1st K-Pop Girl Group Album To Chart In Top 20 Of Billboard 200 For 4 Weeks
NewJeans has made history on the Billboard 200 with their latest album!
On August 22 local time, Billboard revealed that NewJeans’ second mini album “Get Up” had successfully remained in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 (its weekly ranking of the most popular albums in the United States) for a fourth week.
For the week ending on August 26, “Get Up” dropped just four spots to No. 16—making it the first K-pop girl group album in Billboard 200 history to spend four weeks in the top 20.
Meanwhile, NewJeans’ hit single “Super Shy” stayed strong at No. 79 in its sixth consecutive week on the Hot 100 (Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States).
“Super Shy” is now NewJeans’ second song to spend six weeks on the Hot 100 (after “OMG”), and NewJeans is only the second K-pop girl group (after BLACKPINK) to have multiple songs chart for six weeks each.
“Get Up” also spent its fourth consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard’s World Albums chart, in addition to sweeping the No. 3 spot on the Top Album Sales chart, Top Current Album Sales chart, and Tastemaker Albums chart this week.
Additionally, NewJeans held relatively steady at No. 12 on Billboard’s Artist 100, marking their eighth overall week on the chart.
Finally, many of NewJeans’ songs from “Get Up” continued to perform well on Billboard’s global charts. On the Global Excl. U.S. chart, “Super Shy” held onto its spot at No. 5, followed by “ETA” at No. 11, “New Jeans” at No. 49, “Cool With You” at No. 84, and “ASAP” at No. 165. On the Global 200, “Super Shy” ranked No. 11, with “ETA” at No. 25, “New Jeans” at No. 75, and “Cool With You” at No. 115.
Congratulations to NewJeans on their historic achievement!
