6 Reasons To Keep Your Eye On RIIZE, SM Entertainment's Latest Boy Group

RIIZE is the latest boy group from SM Entertainment, the company behind majorly successful artists like BoA, EXO, NCT, Red Velvet, aespa, and more. While that in itself is a reason to anticipate some incredible things from RIIZE, there are plenty more! Short for RISE&REALIZE, the group debuted on September 4 with seven members. Whether you’re already a fan or you’re just curious, here are some things you should know!

1. The group includes former NCT members Shotaro and Sungchan

Originally introduced as NCT members in 2020, it came as a big surprise when SM Entertainment announced that Shotaro and Sungchan would be departing NCT and re-debuting with RIIZE. They instantly caught audiences’ attention back in 2020 with their phenomenal performances, so if you’re a fan of these two, then be sure to check out RIIZE!

2. They broke records with their debut

As the first group to sell 1 million copies of a debut album in their first week without any prior exposure from survival shows, RIIZE has proved themselves to be monster rookies right from the beginning. The group’s very first title track “Get A Guitar” has also racked up an impressive view count only a month after its premiere. It’s a catchy, fun song that’ll have you dancing!

3. They’re already dance masters

With K-pop choreographies seemingly increasing in difficulty by the day, RIIZE has set a high bar for new groups with their debut title track choreo. Difficulty aside, it’s also super satisfying to watch! With a lot of hip hop and street dance-inspired moves, it definitely feels unique and creative. It’s a memorable first title track!

4. They’ve established a great social media presence

Social media presence is an increasingly important part of K-pop idol promotions, and RIIZE has already cornered the market a month after their debut! With funny short videos and fun trends recreated by the members, there’s always something new being posted. Plus, they’re pretty active in the comments—more chances to interact with your faves!

5. There are two international members

Just in case your Korean is a little rusty, don’t worry—RIIZE has you covered! The oldest member Shotaro is from Japan, so there’s sure to be Japanese content from the group in the future. Anton, the youngest member, is from the States. You can already find English content sprinkled across their social medias, so there’ll be something pretty much anyone can enjoy.

6. They have a variety show

If the music isn’t enough to get you to stan, RIIZE already has their own mini variety series airing now. Get to know the members’ personalities and their sense of humor through “WE RIIZE,” which will feature plenty of games and skits that will definitely be entertaining to watch. Their energy on-screen is adorable and super refreshing!
